When Cliff Palmer opened the practice in 2009, he set out with a simple aim: Helping people take exceptional care of their teeth.

And we’ve attracted a talented team of dentists who are passionate about delivering just that.
MEET THE TEAM
Led by principal, Cliff Palmer, our practice comprises four dentists, a Dental Therapist and Hygienist, and a Clinical Denture Technician. They are supported by an experienced and caring team, who make sure you’re always greeted with a smile.
Meet the Dental Team
Dr Cliff Palmer

Cliff's patients come to him because they know they get the very best in patient care. His warm character and reassuring manner make for a relaxed and often enjoyable dental experience. He holds post graduate certificates in restorative dentistry, and implant surgery and works closely with colleagues across Yorkshire to ensure his skills remain at the cutting edge.
Cliff's commitment to professional development is reflected in his passion for teaching wider members of the team. He is an Foundation Dentist trainer (holding a PGCE in Clinical Education), and also serves as a mentor for the British Academy of Implant and Restorative Dentistry.
Dr Clare O’Neill

Clare is dedicated to providing excellent care for her patients. Her focus is on providing preventative dentistry, educating patients to look after their teeth and gum health.
Clare has a reputation for being exceptionally gentle and works hard to reassure people with dental phobias. She is skilled in the full range of treatments we provide, and particularly enjoys endodontic (root canal) treatments. She loves getting to know patients, putting them at ease and developing a lasting relationship with them. Clare also provides Botox treatments to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles and to treat excessive sweating. Call reception to book in for a free consultation.
Dr Matthew Gahan

New to the practice Matt is our visiting specialist. He has been an NHS consultant in Restorative Dentistry since 2010, having completed 10 years of hospital-based training after qualifying as a general dentist in 2000. Matthew has been a GDC registered specialist for 10 years and is one of only a handful of multi-discipline specialists in the region. His long hospital career has allowed him to pursue excellence in his clinical skills and his main remit has been for the oral rehabilitation of oral cancer patients, complex dental cases and the provision of dental implants. In private practice, he provides specialist treatment and management to save teeth, restore smiles and replace missing teeth. We are very excited to welcome Matt to the team and know that with his wealth of knowledge and expertise he will be a great asset to the practice.

Serena is the most passionate Hygiene Therapist around with Diplomas in Dental Technology and Hygiene Therapy. She has great communication skills, is gentle, reassuring and critically, aims to educate her patients to restore their gum health and prevent future problems. Her wide ranging skills mean she can offer great advice about how to help patients care for their bridges, crowns, implants and dentures. She has also completed further training to enable her to carry out Teeth Whitening. Serena loves to spend her free time with her young son and husband and enjoys travelling and eating Thai food.

Gemma is the other half of our Hygiene Therapy team. Gemma joined the practice April 2018 initially to cover Serena’s maternity leave. However, we loved her that much we asked her to stay. Gemma graduated from Leeds University in 2013 with a Diploma in Hygiene Therapy. We believe her gentle and patient approach to hygiene treatment will even help our most reluctant patients to overcome their dental phobias, educating them how to protect their gum health and prevent future problems through better oral hygiene.
Meet the dental nurses

Lauren is our Lead Nurse and also our Children and Family Coordinator and an excellent dental nurse. She takes pride in using her skills in the widest sense, running her own clinics and delivering oral health education programme with our local schools. Lauren has additional qualifications in fluoride application, oral health education and radiography. She particularly enjoys working with patients with dental phobias, and runs sessions which support patients to deal with their phobias and advise dentists of how they can best be managed.

Chloe is an excellent nurse, who joined the practice in 2015. She is very creative, fulfilling the role of our resident photographer, having completed a course in Dental Photography. She is also qualified to take impressions, apply fluoride and take dental radiographs. Chloe works most frequently with Cliff & Matt and can provide advice to their patients about aspects of their care. Chloe is out of surgery on Thursdays & Tuesdays.

After taking a short break from Finkle Hill Dental Care, Jo returned to the practice in January 2020. We are so pleased to have her back as part of our nursing team. She is a warm and talented nurse with almost 20 years experience and numerous additional qualifications to her name. When not at work, she loves spending time in the country and walking the dogs.

Amy is an experienced nurse and brings warmth, vibrancy and enthusiasm to everything she is involved in. Amy adapts to everything the busy dental practice throws at her. Amy is brilliant with all our patients, but especially our littlest patients! When she’s not at work, Amy devotes most of her time to her family including her two beautiful children Emelia & Lucas.
Shareena joined the team in March 2017 as Apprentice Dental Nurse. She is now fully Qualified with a Level 3 NVQ in Dental Nursing. She joined the team with a very clear passion for teeth and is excited to develop her dental career with us. We think her hard working ethos, friendly manner and enquiring mind will make her an excellent dental nurse.
Meet the management team

Jo T is the second half of the management team that ensures the practice runs as well as it does. She is the friendly face you will be most likely to meet at reception or speak to on the phone. She knows almost all of our patients by name, makes sure they feel welcomed to the practice and plans care in their interests. With a busy diary to juggle she has much on her plate. But she is unflappable.

Helen is our Business Development Manager focused on making Finkle Hill the best it can be. From a research and project management background, Helen can usually be found in the office working out how we can make our patients' experience even better and supporting the development of our team.

Cassy is our Practice Manager, having worked in Dentistry since she left school. She is a meticulous leader and ensures the practice provides the best care and patient experience possible. From a nursing background, Cassy also provides leadership to the dental nursing team setting the standard for our care. When not at work, Cassy loves spending quality family time with her little girl Ella and her partner Liam. Cassy works every day except Monday.
CQC inspectors use professional judgement, supported by objective measures and evidence, to assess services against our five key questions:

- Are they effective?
- Are they caring?
- Are they responsive to people’s needs?
- Are they well-led?
Unlike other sectors that CQC regulates, we will not be giving a rating to primary care dental services in 2015/16, although we reserve the option to do so in the future.
